Lots of Goings-On

My absence from blog life has mainly to do with the chaos in real life. It all began with a stomach virus last Friday night. I was so relieved at the beginning of January that I had missed the bug that left almost everyone else reeling between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The relief was short lived. I was so thankful that my OB okayed Phenergan...truly a miracle drug. As a pastor's wife, the weekend is not the best time to get sick. Thankfully, Matt's and my parents live close so they picked up ALL the slack that my infirmity left. Matt was amazing. He worked out every kink, including filling my spot in serving communion Saturday night. Love you, babe.

While holed up in our bedroom for two days, Matt literally tore our house apart. For a fabulous reason, though. New floors!! Ever since we moved into our home we've "endured" the typical "whitish" carpet and 80's white tile (with dirt and grime ground into the grout since the '80's). White carpet + young children + sippy cups = dalmatian carpet.

Matt decided to do some of the demolition to cut part of the installation cost. The installer came on Monday to quote us and thought they'd be done by Wednesday or Thursday.

Well...a wavy concrete floor and a wife who didn't know the thermostats were supposed to be on and set to 78 and so, in her wisdom, turned the unit off to save money were some major setbacks. Today, Friday, the four of us are still camped out at my parents' house wearing the same two outfits for the past five days I(for all of you germaphobes...we have been washing them!).

There's a chance they'll lay the floors today or tomorrow. No guarantee though.

And even better news...

We're having a girl! We've selected a name but I'm not sure if I'll blog about it yet. I'll let you know before she's here though.

I'm 20 weeks! Throughout this pregnancy I have literally been thankful for each day, knowing that none of them are promised. So, thank you, Lord, for twenty weeks. They have been glorious.

I will hopefully be able to post a belly pic (a clothed belly pic...I'm not judging others who choose to show their beautiful pregnant skin...I, personally, just can't do it :) ).

I'm on my parents' computer right now...I'll see if I can find a random picture to post. I have a hard time posting without some visual. Happy Friday, everyone!

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary... does your (winter) garden grow?

With cabbage and kale

Pink phlox in a pail

And pansies all in a row.

And here's Mary...

Resolutions, a Fun Resource for Moms and a Giveaway

The moms at are talking about their New Years' resolutions. Not only do they want to inspire you to resolve to reach specific goals in 2009, they also want to give away free stuff. Yay :)

Here's a peek into my resolutions for 2009:

"Sodas are for the cinema." : Matt & I are "resolving" this one's amazing how many calories are in a stinkin' soda. Because of this, we're saving the sodas as a special treat at the movies...and only at the movies. I have a feeling we're going to see a record amount of films this year :)

"Write it on my heart.": I used to kick proverbial butt in Scripture memory as a kid. I had all kinds of stickers by my name in Sunday school. Things started to change as I surpassed sixth grade. I could remember lyrics to all kinds of songs but couldn't get Scriptures to stick. Hmm. That is starting to change...beginning with Colossians 3:12 - 19.

"From cover to cover.": This will truly be the first year I commit to read through the Bible in a year. I have never done it. I'm trying to set myself up for success. Instead of buying the book, I've opted to bookmark this website so that when I open my iBook to check my email, bloglines, etc. it will be the first link my cursor clicks.

"Divide and organize." : In short, de-clutter my home. Divide the "keepers" from the trash. Organize the keepers in such a way that they're attractively accessible.

That's it! Don't forget to visit to enter their Giveaway. Good luck!
